THE PRINT
Add a touch of retro chic to your interior with this stunning reproduction of J.H. Lynch's kitsch masterpiece Autumn Leaves. This artwork is typical of Lynch's style in its depiction of a sultry, dark haired, exotic woman scantily clad and posing provocatively amidst a lush jungle like setting. In recent decades as mid-century design has continued to grow in popularity Lynch's luscious ladies have become much sought after artworks for nailing that quintessentially kitsch vibe. Autumn Leaves has been lovingly restored from a scan of an original J.H. Lynch painting while retaining just the right amount of ageing and imperfections to add some vintage charm. Better than owning an original!

THE ARTIST
J.H. Lynch remains an almost anonymous figure shrouded in mystery despite the fact that his paintings were once so ubiquitous in the UK that you could often find them for sale at the local department store or supermarket. Interestingly a popular rumour for many years was that he was not a he at all, but a she – a nun named Julia Lynch from none other than New Zealand! In recent years these rumours have been disproven, J.H. Lynch was simply Joseph Henry Lynch, a British artist who died in 1989 to little fanfare. In the years since, and with increasing interest in mid-century design, his works have become highly collectable for their kitsch imaginings of sexuality of the era. It is widely believed that Lynch used the archetypal model of the 1960s, Jean Shrimpton, as inspiration for his women. The mysterious identity of his subjects, and of the artist himself, only seems to have added to the compelling allure of these artworks.
